Ok ok, ya paso un buen rato desde mi ultimo post REAL. Pero voy a tratar de compensar esta ausencia.
Aquí va un post triple con algunas canciones que he estado escuchando estas ultimas semanas,



El ultimo releaze de Flashback Records es el nuevo EP de los misteriosos Wild Geese el cual contiene en su lado A este tremendo "new wave becomes acid" edit llamado Touch.

Ok ok... it's been a while since my last REAL post, but I'll try to make it up to you.
Here´s a triple post with some tracks I`ve been listening in the last weeks.

The latest release from Flashback records is the new EP from the mysterious Wild Geese which contains in its A side this awesome "new wave becomes acid" edit called Touch.

Secondly here's the hypnotic remix that Nicolas Jaar done for Ellen Allien's single Flashy Flashy.

The last track comes form the latest edtion of the 6th Borough Project edit series and its named Closer. Spotless, as all the 6BP reworks.

Vacation

Hi all, sorry for the lack of posts lately, I am taking my two annual and well deserved vacation weeks.

I'm Not Scared

Eighth Wonder, la banda pop de los hermanos Jamie y Patsy Kensit, tuvo mucho éxito a mediados de los 80s.
Algunos de sus hits fueron compuestos por la creme de los compositores de esa época. Entre ellos se encontraban Neil Tennant y Chris Love, mas conocidos como Pet Shop Boys, quienes les compusieron I'm Not Scared.
El tema tuvo un gran éxito, sobre todo en Italia, quizas haya sido por su sonido italo.
Aqui les dejo una gloriosa dub version del increible DJ y productor italiano SirBilly.

Eighth Wonder, the pop group formed by the brothers Jamie y Patsy Kensit, had huge success during the second half of the 80s. Some of their hits were composed by the creme of the songwtters of that time. One of them was the duo formed by Neil Tennant y Chris Love, better known as Pet Shop Boys. They wrote I'm Not Scared. The song was a big hit, mostly in Italy, maybe because of its Italo-esque sound

Digging KZA

El japones KZA, miembro de Force Of Nature y famoso por su extensa colección de discos, edito a fines de 2009 su opera prima llamada Dig And Edit , disco en el cual compila algunos de sus trabajos lanzados anteriormente en EPs de edición ultra limitada mas algunos estrenos.
Los tracks están claramente basados en samples o melodías de otras canciones, aunque siempre con producción adicional cortesía de Kuniyuki.
Aquí va el tema que cierra el disco, una especie de versión lenta del hipnótico clásico de Severed Heads: Dead Eyes Opened.

KZA - Open Up (Slow Version)

Japanese producer, half of Force Of Nature and well known by his huge record collection, KZA released at the end of 2009 his debut album named Dig And Edit. The record compiles some of his previous works, only available in ultra limited EPs plus some new ones.
The tracks are clearly based on samples and melodies from other songs, although in all of them there's some additional production courtesy of Kuniyuki.
Here's the closing track. A kind of slow version of the Severed Heads classic Dead Eyes Opened.

Foreign Affair + Veter Pisti

Balearic Biscuits (sublabel de Music For Dreams) edito en 2009 este fantástico EP con 3 reedits... ( reworks... remixes... ya no se como llamarlos) de Peter Visti, quien para la ocasión cambió de lugar un par de letras en su nombre y si se convirtió en Veter Pisti!
El lado A contiene un remix del "Fagget Fayrs" canción de la que no pude averiguar absolutamente nada.
El lado B tiene un edit de Being Boiled, original de Human League, y el tema que les dejo a continuación: una muy "baleárica" versión de Foreign Affair de Mike Oldfield, con unos pequeños toques de Mammagamma de Alan Parsons.

In 2009 Music For Dreams' sub-label Balearic Biscuits released a fantastic EP containing 3 reedits... (reworks...? remixes...? you name it) done by Peter Visti, who swapped a pair of letters in his name to become Veter Pisti for the ocasion!.
Side A contains a remix of "Fagget Fayrs", a totally unknown track for me (feel free to enlighten me in the comments ares :)
Side B has an edit of Human League's Being Boiled, and the track I am posting: a "balearified" version of Mike Oldfield's Foreign Affair with some tiny Alan Parson's Mammagamma interventions.

El jamaiquino Tapper "Tappa" Zukie es reconocido internacionalmente por sus producciones de dancehall y dub durante la dècada del 70.
Sin embargo hay una rara avis en plan funk cosmico dentro de su discografìa que lo llevo a las discotecas europeas gracias a DJs como el legendario Danielle Baldelli.
Aquí va "Freak" en su versión instrumental.

A principios de los 80s la artista multimedia Lynn Goldsmith llamó a algunos amigos, entre los que se encontraban Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, y Sting, y bajo el pseudonimo Will Powers creó Dancing For Mental Health, un disco repleto de sintetizadores, funk y ...autoayuda!
Si bien el tono del disco es de parodia, las bases sobre las que "Will" nos da consejos son increibles.
Aquí les dejo uno de los singles extraídos del disco y su video, super vanguardista para su epoca, creado por el Instituto Tecnológico de New York.

In the early 80s the multimedia artist Lynn Goldsmith called some friends (Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, and Sting amongst others) and, under the Will Powers alias, created Dancing For Mental Health, a record full of synths, funk and ...self-help!
Even though the record is kind of a parody, the basements on which "Will" gives us advice are incredible.
Here's Adventures In Success, one of the singles extracted from the album and its very avant garde video, directed by the Technological Institute of New York.

Mark E Works

Mark Evetts, mas conocido como, Mark E, viene haciendo los mas narcoticos edits desde hace ya 5 años.
La mayoria de sus trabajos han sido editados en 12" de edicion limitada y son, por consiguiente, no muy fáciles de conseguir.
Afortunadamente Merc, su propio label, acaba de editar un CD con una seleccion de sus tracks y edits editados entre 2005 a 2009.
El disco salio, una vez mas, en edición limitada pero aun se consigue.
Aquí va uno de sus temas.

Mark Evetts, also known as Mark E, has been producing the finest and more narcotic edits during the last 5 years. Most of his works have been released in very limited 12", and consequently they are very hard to get in many cases.
Fortunately Merc, his own label, has just released a CD and a 12" set with his most relevant works from 2005 to 2009. The release is , again, limited but you can still get one.

La música de Albatros va desde el disco hasta las baladas épicas y cinematográficas influenciadas por el maestro Morricone.

A mediados de 2009 el infalible label Whatever We Want editó una bomba house/balearic llamada Rushing To Paradise (Walkin' These Streets) firmada por House Of House, un duo compuesto por Saheer Umar y Liv Spencer (Still Going). El disco, de edición ultra limitada, se agoto a los pocos dias.
Afortunadamente a solo una semana del fin de 2009 HOH lo re edito de forma independiente y se dio el lujo de poner en su lado B un tremendo remix a cargo de DJ Harvey, el cual les dejo a continuación.

In the mid 2009, the flawless Whatever We Want label released a house/balearic bomb called Rushing To Paradise (Walkin' These Streets) signed by House Of House, a duo formed by Saheer Umar and Liv Spencer of Still Going. The record, which had an ultra limited pressing, went out of stock in few days.
Fortunately, just one week before the end of 2009, HOH re released the record independently with a luxury item in its B Side: an awesome remix from DJ Harvey.
The 12" is still availlable in Juno (went out of stock in Phonica). Hurry up and buy it now or be prepared to spend a fortune in 10 years.
